Freedom

In recent times the simple right of expression has come under much fire.  As artists, we at Sacred Scar have to take this freedom very personally.  We strive to stretch, and challenge, and push boundaries.  Anytime you walk this path, you run the risk of alienation, and the wrath of that alienation.  This leads to the ultimate question: Do you play it safe to please the majority, or do you push and open yourself?  For an artist, this isn't really a question.  What is art unless it questions, searches, and on occasion offends.  

Sadly, what once was verbal criticism, has in some cases become deadly.  An artist, when exposing their soul, has to expect the possibility of passionate discourse.  When this discourse is a tool to restrict art, speech or action, a line is most definitely crossed.  

As we start a new year, we must recognize and fight any attempt at censorship.  We cannot grow and thrive in a censored world.  We must do everything we can to encourage all peaceful expression.

Col*lab*o*ra*tion

1. noun. the action of working with someone to produce or create something.

For our first out of the gate collaboration, there was no one else we could have conceived of creating with, then Sean Barnes at Love & Aesthetics.  If you haven't had a chance to experience the brilliance of what our friend Sean does across this planet, then you are missing out on some bad ass greatness.  We go waaaaay back with Sean before he designed hotels, created cutting edge boutiques, and made the bizarre mainstream.  The only thing bigger than this dudes talent is his heart, which explains L&A's logo.  

I am telling you, my cats and kittens, that this man is going to be leading a new wave of beauty and we are tipping you off while you can still jump into the wake.  

As far as the Sacred Scar x Love & Aesthetics collaboration, we decided to create a collection entitled OWNED.  We wanted to remove the literal and embrace the conceptual.  What in your life owns you?
